I am rebuilding a Windows 2008 Standard 64 bit server. I have the 2008 Standard license key (not R2). We had to install new hard drives in the 2008 machine but do not have the DVD media and the vendor it was purchased from is not available.

I have downloaded both but am not sure on an empty machine without an operating system yet how do I install the 64 bit EXE version. Does it need to be unpacked on an existing working machine? Is the EXE a container file? All the links pointing to a 64 bit ISO version give me an error 404. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
